Yummy Mango Float

It's a gloomy, rainy and busy Friday morning. As much as I wanted to sleep all day, I have to wake up early and get ready for my class. I'm taking a review class for my EILTS by the way. It's been raining since I woke up. And with a weather like this, it always makes me think of food. ^_^
I don't know why but I just love to eat whenever the temperature is low and the atmosphere is cold. It really makes me crave to munch on something that's sweet.... And what I have in mind right now is this yummy, sweet and creamy mango float.

My sister just made me one last Monday for my birthday and to my utmost disappointment, it was consumed instantly before I even had the chance to savor it more a bit longer or take a photo of it. At least we enjoyed the yummy sweet dessert especially my one-year-old nephew. Thank you sis!

27th of July

Tomorrow, Monday, July 27, 2009, major things are going to happen. First, the President is having her State of the Nation Address (SONA). There's been a lot of negative comments and write-ups going on that now, it makes one wonder - Is there something good that's going to happen after this event? I just don't know. But like the majority of the Filipino people, all I want is for Pres. Gloria Arroyo to publicly announce to the whole nation that this will be her last term of presidency and that she is not planning to extend her term by pushing through with "Cha-cha"(Charter Change) or "Con-Ass"(Constitutional Assembly).

It's also going to be the Iglesia ni Cristo Day. This is the 95th Anniversary of Inglesia Ni Cristo. And here in Davao, Mayor Duterte granted their request for some roads to be temporarily closed in order to give way to their big celebration. I just wished GMA declared this day as a non-working holiday. I'm sure a lot of us will definitely welcome an extended weekend rest.

Lastly, this day marks my 30th birthday! Happy birthday to me. This is a special day for me so I'm celebrating it together with the special people in my life, my Family :) And what does my birth date mean? Here it is...very tame and spiritual. lol

Handmade Products at Amber Store

Last Thursday we did a general house cleaning in preparation for our GKK fiesta here in our village in honor of our patron, Our Lady of Remedy. We rearranged the furniture, changed curtains, made the floor shine and dust-free as possible. And as we were beautifying our home, I noticed the walls were lifeless and could do well with a much needed make-over. I think it would be great to add some frames or lovely decorations to create a nice and relaxing ambiance in the living room.

And as I was surfing the net, I found just what I was looking for... Handmade products made with love from www.amber-store.com. An Uplifting Message

Today as I was browsing the net I checked on my horoscope to see if there's something special in store for me... And boy I was glad because the message sure did uplift my spirit. Just what I needed for my already crumbling soul.

Leo (7/23 – 8/22)

You've got some serious mojo pushing you forward today -- you've got to make sure that you don't stop for anything! Your persistence should pay off in the not too distant future, so keep it up.

Take the more difficult route today -- sure, it could tax your energy to the maximum limit, but in the end it will reward you with a great pride that will feed your ego in a profound and powerful way. Besides, coasting through life is not for you -- you need and relish a unique challenge, and you might be given a very captivating one today. You are learning (slowly but surely) to appreciate the fact that when a goal is too easy to attain, it is not as fulfilling as a hard-won victory.

Been taxing myself lately with so much pressure which I can't help but kept on piling up over my head. I know I should be thankful for the many blessings that's been pouring in our family but sometimes when your personal goals aren't met, you just can't help but end up being frustrated. And the more you dwell on it, the more you get hopeless. That's why it's always helpful whenever you receive an encouraging thought that will surely give you a kick to get you back on track and keep you going and just... DON'T STOP TILL YOU GET ENOUGH (by MJ). Don't stop! Don't stop! Don't Stop! :)

Make Your Fantasy League Win this Season

I'm such a sports buff and up to now I am still in a state of euphoria after SMB (SanMiguel Beerman), my favorite basketball team in the PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) won a sweet victory over their greatest nemesis in the league last Friday. As I was surfing the net for any news tidbits about their fantastic game I stumble upon fantasy football. At first it sounded way too foreign to me but it was too interesting plus I also love football game that I took more time to know how it works.

It's a computer game wherein you can be a participant by building your own team that competes against other fantasy teams based on the statistics generated by the real-life American football players on the field. The team with most total points at the end of the season, gets to be the winner. I know it's a little too much to absorb for an amateur like me but if you're an avid fantasy football player you wouldn't want to miss WaiverWire, a great site where you can get real-time news alerts and an expert fantasy analysis to help you win your fantasy league.

Visit them here and sign-up for the In-Season Pass. For just $9.99 for the entire 2009 season, you'll have real time football player alters via Email, text and to their Waiver Wire profile page (fast, up to the minute), player injury alerts, player news and updates, expert fantasy football analysis for every alert telling them the impact on a fantasy team/league, potential replacements, etc.. Happy Sunday!

I just love weekends. Who doesn't? During weekends you get the chance to be lazy, doze off in your bed all morning and have that much needed rest and relaxation after a long week of work. It's also the best time to get together with friends and family to do some fun activities like going to the mall, nature trip, gardening or just watch DVDs together. Just like what we did (a little of everything).

full of clutter just don't know what to do...
either to sing with karaoke, watch movies, or drink :)

amid the clutter, I found these beautiful fresh pink roses that I almost took for granted

What's your plan for today? Whatever it is, just make sure to make the most of it because come Monday, it's back to work once again. Happy Sunday everyone!

Ugly Sweaters

Ever had the experience of wearing outdated, ill-fitted and uncomfortable sweater in one of those Christmas Holiday parties? Well I did, way back during my grade school days. With the season being cold you would really want to wear something that is warm and comfy. But on my part, that was not the main reason for wearing a sweater. I just wanted to be stylish and in, trying hard to show-off what I got.

I had to attend a Christmas party that time and my classmates had been plaguing me that it's going to be a sweater party. Upon knowing this, I was already thinking of something to wear for such occasion. Although I had previously prepared a totally different outfit. Being a kid, I wouldn't want to be left out in the crowd. So when I went home, I hurried to my room in order to search for a sweater I could wear... But to my utmost disappointment I didn't find one. My wardrobe that time was just limited to jackets but not one that I could show-off at the party. Then I remembered my mother stored some old clothes in another room. I rummage the entire room and thoroughly searched for the item I've been looking. And there, I found it! A midst the old bed linens and curtains, I found the right sweater. It's my mom's. It's white in color, knitted and actually quite big for my size. But beggars can't be choosers so I had to make do with it. The following day, I went to the party wearing the ghastly sweater without my mother's knowledge. And as expected I was sweating all over and very uncomfortable the whole time. Just imagine, I wore layers of clothes just to fit in the bigger size of the sweater and that's what I got. lol

Well if you are planning to attend or deciding to have a sweater party do check these ultra cool, colorful, fun and stylish sweaters from Ugly Sweaters. They have the cutest and most adorable ugly Christmas sweaters that you could have. I especially liked the red sweater with bear designs (Bears, the Sharks of Summer ugly Sweater). They could even be a nice gift to your hubby, father or grandpa. Just check out Mens Ugly Sweaters to view more exciting designs.

Just Not My Day!

They say it's lucky if you stepped on a poop.... Well I just did! But not in my case...To start with, I woke up early in the morning to take Manike (our 3-month-old pit bull) for a 30-minute walk. As I was cleaning our backyard I stepped on our dog's gross dirt. Arrgghh, not today! I had to attend a very important engagement today (something to do with my career), and stepping on a poop was not something I anticipated. After doing my chores and ranting all the while, I went straight to get ready. As I was about to take a bath, somebody called over the phone. I couldn't just hang up and say, hey I gotta go. Instead, I had to spare a few more minutes. I was already 20 minutes behind my schedule, when I finally finished and headed for my appointment. I was such in a hurry when I realized that I forgot to bring my cellphone. And so I had to turn and head back to get my CP. Halfway through my travel, I checked my cellphone for any messages when I noticed that it was battery empty. What?!! So much for going through all the troubles of getting it when it's going to be useless in the end.

My streak of bad luck didn't end there. When I arrived at my supposed appointment, I was told that it was rescheduled and that I had to come back on Monday. Seems like everything is not going my way. Totally frustrated, I had no option but to just go home and hope my appointment on Monday will finally come into fruition. I thought there's nothing more that can ruin my day but wait there's still another one. When I entered the house I felt a sudden gush of wind and together with it I felt something stung my cheek that felt awfully painful. When I checked on the mirror...guess what - I got stung by a bee! That did it. Now as I am nursing a bee sting and applying a cold compress on it, there's nothing more I wish for than the day would finally come to an end and hope my face will not be swollen come morning... :( If you have some home remedies for bee sting, do share it with me. I would really appreciate it.

Shrimp/Prawn together with 'Vitamin C' could be deadly!

I've been sitting here in front of my computer screen for the longest time thinking of something to write when suddenly I just remembered an email I received before that has something to do with our dinner....shrimps!

It says that eating shrimps/prawns while taking vitamin C could turn into arsenic poising! Arsenic is a highly toxic substance which is very fatal to our health and could seriously cause death. I just want to share this piece of info to warn my readers and at the same time validate if it is really true.

FYI....

YOU MAY POISON YOURSELF ACCIDENTALLY!

Taiwan, a woman suddenly died unexpectedly with signs of bleeding from her ears, nose, month & eyes. After a preliminary autopsy it was diagnosed death due to arsenic poisoning death. Where did the arsenic come from?

The police launched an in-depth and extensive investigation. A medical school professor was invited to come to solve the case. The professor carefully looked at the contents from the deceased's stomach, in less than half an hour, the mystery was solved. The professor said: 'The deceased did not commit suicide and neither was she murdered, she died of accidental death due to ignorance!'

Everyone was puzzled, why accidental death? The arsenic is of the U.S. military for carrying rice seedlings H Gao. The professor said: 'The arsenic is produced in the stomach of the deceased.' The deceased used to take 'Vitamin C' everyday, which in itself is not a problem. The problem was that she ate a large portion of shrimp/prawn during dinner. Eating shrimp/prawn is not the problem that's why nothing happened to her family ever though they took the same shrimp/prawn. However at the same time the deceased also took 'vitamin C', that is where the problem is!

Researchers at the University of Chicago in the United States, found through experiments, food such as soft-shell shrimp/prawn contains a much higher concentration of - five potassium arsenic compounds.

Such fresh food by itself has no toxic effects on the human body! However, in taking 'vitamin C', due to the chemical reaction, the original non-toxic - five potassium arsenic (As anhydride, also known as arsenic oxide, the chemical formula for As205) changed to a three potassium toxic arsenic (ADB arsenic anhydride), also known as arsenic trioxide, a chemical formula (As203), which is commonly known as arsenic to the public!

Arsenic poisoning have magma role and can cause paralysis to the small blood vessels, "mercapto Jimei"??, inhibits the activity of the liver and fat necrosis change Hepatic Lobules Centre, heart, liver, kidney, intestine congestion, epithelial cell necrosis, telangiectasia. Therefore, a person who dies of arsenic poisoning will shows signs of bleeding from the ears, nose, mouth & eyes.

Therefore, as a precautionary measure, DO NOT not take shrimp/prawn when taking 'vitamin C'.

I'm no expert regarding this matter but talking about health, I think just have to let go of my vitamin C supplements than giving up on shrimps.... can't help it...I just love sea foods... :)
